Scope is the price, not hours
The single biggest driver is how much the software has to do. Halving the first release usually does more for the budget than any other decision.
Nobody publishes software prices because every project is different — which is true, and also unhelpful when you're trying to work out whether to start a conversation at all. So here is how quoting actually works, what moves the number, and the ranges we see. Treat these as a starting point for a conversation, not a price list.

A screen is predictable. Connecting to an accounting system, a payment provider or a legacy database is where the unknowns live.
Moving years of messy records with confidence takes mapping, cleaning and validation. It's routinely underestimated.
Every additional user type — admin, manager, field, client — adds permissions, screens and testing on top of the core build.
A short discovery call and a written scope come before any number. Quoting without understanding the process is how projects go wrong later.
You get a fixed price and a breakdown before work starts. If scope changes mid-project, that's a conversation and a decision — not a surprise invoice.
We aim for a useful first release early. If the business case doesn't hold up after phase one, you're not committed to phase two.
Hosting, database and third-party services are laid out before you commit, so the ongoing number isn't a surprise either.
| Project type | Typical timeline | What drives the range |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing website | 3–6 weeks | Page count, CMS depth, custom design, SEO scope |
| Internal tool replacing a spreadsheet | 6–10 weeks | Number of workflows, roles, data migration |
| Custom CRM | 6–12 weeks | Channels captured, automation rules, integrations |
| Client portal | 4–10 weeks | Systems it reads from, permission model |
| Field / offline PWA | 4–10 weeks | Offline scope, sync conflicts, hardware use |
| Monthly retainer | Ongoing | Capacity reserved, response commitments |
Short discovery call, then a written scope and a fixed price before anything starts. You talk to the people writing the code, and the source stays in your name.
Describe what you're trying to build. We'll come back with a range and what would move it — no obligation, and an honest answer if custom software isn't the right call.
